Stephen Dabbs, owner-operator of the Assisting Hands Home Care serving Forsyth and North Fulton counties in Georgia, was recently honored the franchise’s Growth Award. Winning any award is notable; however, it’s even more impressive when the franchisee has only been in business for two years. The Growth Award goes to the franchised location that had the most billable hours in one month for the entire network of Assisting Hands franchise owners. So how did he do it in such a short amount of time and during a pandemic?
“We really started to focus on the marketing side of the business,” explained Dabbs. “When you first start the business, you’re really trying to get your bearings learning how to run it. We finally had a chance to get out into the community more and participate in things, like network marketing and joining chambers of commerce. Personal contact is really important in this business.”
In addition, Dabbs praised the Assisting Hands national team for its marketing and operational support. “We get unprecedented support from the national team. We consider them ‘silent partners’ in our agency. They have a great deal of experience. When I need help, I just pick up the phone, and they jump right in.” And the marketing team, under the direction of Cate Foster, is top-notch. “A lot of what they provide I use for email marketing campaigns. But even for special events or if time-sensitive information is needed, they turn around quickly,” he added.
It’s not just the national team that makes the business great. “Assisting Hands really does cultivate a family environment. Their FOFO (family of franchise owners) motto isn’t just a saying – they embody it. My son, Jared, attended the Assisting Hands national convention and was able to speak with some of the largest franchise owners and get some great insight on running the business,“ Dabbs said.
