When Gaby and Stefania Bitar signed on as franchisees with Assisting Hands® Home Care, they knew they had found an opportunity that was both rewarding and meaningful. However, the husband-and-wife duo was pleasantly surprised when their dream business also achieved more than $1 million in gross revenue within their first full year of operation.
“We looked at all kinds of franchises during our search, and the moment we started speaking with Assisting Hands, it felt so right, just like family,” said Stefania. “We immediately knew we had joined something special. The success we’ve achieved since signing has just been an added bonus.”
The pair had no professional home care experience, only some personal experience in caring for a loved one. According to them, the brand offered tremendous support in navigating ownership from.
“The Assisting Hands support team helped lay the groundwork,” said Gaby. “They coached us through compliance and licensing and gave us proven marketing materials. They handed us the blueprint, and we were able to run with it. We knew the brand was there as a safety net if we needed it.”
Founded by Dr. Gail Silverstein and Cline Waddell, Assisting Hands provides a wide range of in-home care services, including home health care, personal care, companionship, meal preparation and medication reminders. The company currently maintains 243 territories and 134 physical offices priding themselves on how it stands out in a crowded market.
“Our territory is located in Maywood, New Jersey, and we are surrounded by a ton of other home care agencies,” said Gaby. “But Assisting Hands taught us that building relationships is our biggest advantage. So, we leaned into community outreach, showed up consistently and focused on trust and transparency. That personal touch was everything.”
The Bitars also credit their success to the flexibility and freedom provided by the company.
“We never felt boxed in or micromanaged,” said Gaby. “We grew so quickly because the franchise gave us direction but allowed us to run the business the way we saw fit.”
In the future, the Bitars hope to grow their franchise even more, relying on the tools and strong business plan that have already helped them succeed.
