For more than 30 years, Fazoli’s has been a leader in the premium Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) segment, successfully operating more than 215 restaurants in 28 states. Known for its Italian-American staples like Fettuccine Alfredo and Baked Lasagna and its signature Meatball Da Vinci Submarino® sandwich, the franchise has thrived by serving classic, craveable, Italian comfort fare for decades. And while no dine-in restaurant had a seamless solution for handling the lapse in service during the COVID-19 outbreak, Fazoli’s off-premise strategy allowed the brand to continue to satisfy its guests.

Focusing on its off-premises strategy, the franchise adeptly switched to a combination of drive-through, carryout, online ordering and pronto pickup/delivery channels, while employing every available measure to ensure guests could get their Fazoli’s fix.

“We are so fortunate that we had put a great off-premise service platform in place before the crisis began,” says Jodie Conrad, Fazoli’s chief marketing officer. “If it wasn’t for this, it would likely be impossible for us to continue to serve our communities and provide continued employment for our teams. As difficult as this has been, we’re so thankful to be able to offer these services to our guests because it means so much to remain a part of their lives as they navigate through this uncertain time. Fazoli’s is here for them. We know, life is better with breadsticks.”

The franchise, which prides itself on offering “fast, fresh Italian food,” has experienced a strong period of growth over the past 10 years, reporting a 95% unit-continuity rate since 2015 and a growing sales trend since 2013. Fazoli’s offers experienced restaurant operators strong average unit volumes (AUVs) and attractive investment metrics. And the brand is supported by an innovative, delicious menu made with quality ingredients and a loyal guest following – a population of dedicated patrons that did not waver despite the global pandemic. Offering a scalable concept and competitive start-up costs, Fazoli’s is poised for future growth, too, with desirable areas available for new franchisees to join the Fazoli’s family.
