As proud members of VetFran, an initiative of the International Franchise Association that connects franchisors with potential franchisee veterans, Ace Handyman Services® is passionate about giving our nation’s heroes the support, resources and opportunities they need to succeed as franchise owners in the home repair and maintenance industry.

“Having 20 years of public service in the Army, the servant heart that I encountered throughout the organization resonated with me,” said Phil Savard, franchise owner of Ace Handyman Services Laurel in Maryland.

Prior to Savard’s military career, he became interested in entrepreneurship. After completing his military training focused on using systems and procedures, he felt franchising was the logical choice. He also had been impressed with the community of veteran owners willing to help at Ace Handyman Services.

“The 100-year-old Ace brand is well-known and trusted by the majority of consumers. The home repair and maintenance industry is a staple of the economy, and, while impacted, it seems as though it weathers economic downturns well,” said Savard on what made him choose Ace Handyman Services.

According to Chris Lackovic, franchise owner of Ace Handyman Services Tri-County NOVA in Woodbridge, Virginia, he decided to pursue franchising after feeling unfulfilled with several internships and job opportunities offered to him during his transition out of the military.

“The Ace Handyman Services franchise model provided the opportunity to lead, coach, mentor and make a difference in my community,” explained Lackovic. “I would have the ability to be my own boss, make strategic decisions that improve the lives of people around me and, ultimately, improve my local community.”

Lackovic was immediately captivated by the support he received from the franchise, and that support is one of the many reasons he recommends Ace Handyman Services to fellow veterans.

“It was very reassuring to know that the corporate team was available to us, authentic in interactions and genuine in caring about the whole AHS family – something sorely missing in today’s business culture,” said Lackovic. “Corporate’s continuous acknowledgment of the sacrifices military families make and the unique perspective that veterans bring to the Ace Handyman Service makes me proud to be a member of the AHS team!”
