Before launching her 360˚ Painting franchise in Sarasota, Florida, last March, Emily May was a stay-at-home mom who had her hands full with two sons. But something was missing. So, together with her husband, Jeff, she started investigating the prospect of launching a franchise.

“We had discussed the idea of opening a franchise for years,” May says, describing how her husband had grown tired of his corporate career. “Last fall we started looking at brands in the home-services industry and saw a great opportunity with 360˚ Painting.”

May’s franchise opened on March 9, just before COVID-19 became a global health crisis.

“As new business owners we were nervous,” May says. “Many franchisees were cutting back but we were just launching.”

With more people working from their homes and growing increasingly interested to sprucing up their properties, May’s sales picked up rapidly. She quickly learned how to balance her time, realizing that business ownership provides excellent flexibility, allowing time with family.

“Managing my days as business owner and full-time mom has been a challenge,” she says. “But I’m finding a wonderful balance.”
