After years of independent investing, Paul and Tanice Myers joined HomeVestors® of America in 2018, the real estate brand behind “We Buy Ugly Houses®.” In 2025, the husband-and-wife franchisee team captured the company’s top prize.
“The Ugliest House of the Year® contest celebrates the most unforgettable homes transformed by We Buy Ugly Houses franchisees across the country,” the company noted in a press release announcing the Myers as contest winners. “These independently owned and operated property specialists submit their most remarkable transformations, and the public votes to crown the ultimate winner. This year’s winning transformation is located in Boise. This property is proof that every house has potential.”
The franchise, which buys and renovates properties across the country, primarily homes in need of repair or properties sellers want to offload quickly, aims to help families through challenging situations, believing every house, no matter its condition, holds a story and an opportunity for impact. For the Myers, that philosophy hit home.
“We love stepping into tough situations and imagining what’s possible,” shared the franchisee, who has completed more than 500 flips. “It’s not just about repairing houses – it’s about restoring pride, relieving stress for families and giving communities a fresh start.”
Every corner of the Myers’ award-winning renovation received careful attention and expert craftsmanship. The home, which was uninhabitable with severe safety issues, was transformed into a safe, livable space and an unused wheelchair ramp was donated to a local family. The value of the home increased by $56,000 and HomeVestors donated $20,000 to the Treasure Valley Habitat for Humanity in Boise, Idaho.
“It’s a huge honor to assist in getting that $20,000 donated back into the community,” Tanice said. “HomeVestors is an incredible network that appreciates its franchisees and really operates on a people-first mentality.”
According to Tanice, HomeVestors provides its members with access to three things: leads, money and education – all of which are essential to real estate investing.
“The company allows you to lean in and learn,” she concluded. “They provide you with the tools you need and enable you to make a big impact in your community.”
