A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FRANCHISEE
Kefah Hasan had been working as a retail manager when he realized it was time to pursue his own business venture instead of working for someone else. Because starting a business from scratch is a bit daunting, Hasan decided to explore the franchise route. Before his career in retail, Hasan had owned pizza shops and furniture stores. This time, franchising felt like a way to minimize the risks of opening a new business while benefiting from a steadfast support system.
Hasan knew he wanted to start an HVAC and plumbing business and began to work with a broker. When he came across 1-800-Plumber +Air, it hit the mark. Hasan began his training and opened his location in North Wales, Pennsylvania, at the end of May.
“As for the overall lifestyle, yes, it is definitely more work, but that work is for me,” said Hasan. “I’m not doing it for somebody else, so I can kind of dictate more of what that balance looks like from a work-life balance.”
Here’s an example of a day in the life of a 1-800-Plumber +Air franchisee:
- 5:30 a.m. Hasan wakes up for the day and performs his morning prayer. After, he grabs his coffee and prepares for a full day ahead. 7 a.m. Hasan gets to his office and goes over the schedule, looking at what appointments he has and which plumbers and technicians are on for the day. When the rest of the staff arrives, they gather for a morning meeting where team compliments and recognition stories are shared.
- 9 a.m. Back at his computer, Hasan dives into the finances, taking a look at the bank accounts, credit cards and QuickBooks.
- 10 a.m. Hasan checks in with the franchisor, performs interviews and chats with potential vendors. As a newer franchisee, he also schedules a few hours every day to network within his community and at events at the chamber of commerce.
- 5 p.m. Hasan wraps up his day and heads home to spend time with his family and play with his children.
