Manuel Martinez spent his entire career in the construction industry, including 14 years as the owner of his own construction business. During that time, he had taken on a few subcontracting restoration jobs with Paul Davis Restoration, which ignited his desire to have a larger presence in the restoration industry. Manuel began looking into restoration business opportunities and found that Paul Davis Restoration was the perfect fit because it had the territory he wanted.
Manuel’s experience with Paul Davis Restoration and its level of quality made selecting the franchise model an easy choice. In July 2021, he opened his franchise with his wife, Mildred, in South San Diego. For the Martinezes, opening their business allowed them to work alongside their daughter, Yaremi. The couple also takes pride in how the Paul Davis model sets them apart from other businesses in the industry.
“We’re like a one-stop shop,” explained Manuel. “We do the emergency, we do the contents and we do the reconstruction part of it. The homeowner doesn’t need to be shopping around; they can elect our services from start to finish.”
The importance of community remains at the heart of their business. The couple recently volunteered with the community’s American Red Cross Sound the Alarm event alongside a few of their employees. Volunteers offered to install smoke detectors for local community members and generated awareness about fire preparedness. Their business also is partnering with the local American Red Cross for an upcoming blood drive, and they are working on a collaboration with Father Joe’s Villages to help restore the housing facilities it provides to those facing homelessness.
According to Manuel, these contributions to the community are what make the work they do feel gratifying.
“For me, it’s giving back to the community, having that opportunity to help out in any way,” added Mildred. “Seeing the employees enjoy what they’re doing, seeing the customers’ faces when the job is done and hearing the comments let us know we’re on the right path to success.”
