When Brian Fuery missed the Friday time slot to get his passport renewed, he was obligated to stay through the weekend and wait for a Monday appointment. This could’ve been a nuisance – if it hadn’t introduced him to a business opportunity.
Fuery spent the weekend with a friend connected to Naturals2Go, the most-awarded healthy vending machine business in the U.S. As a veteran, Fuery’s interest was piqued upon learning that Naturals2Go was in the process of launching a program for veterans.
“I told my friend, ‘I don’t want to learn more about vets in vending; I want to create it. I want to build a campaign that allows veterans coming out of service to find purpose and provide for their families,’” Fuery said.
And he did exactly that.
Fuery now serves as the Vets in Vending program manager at Naturals2Go, providing opportunities to fellow veterans transitioning back into civilian life. From firsthand experience, he knows just how seamless the move into business ownership can be.
“In the military, we’re given a task alongside support to accomplish it. Naturals2Go is very similar. You have your machines and your routes, and then you have support,” Fuery said.
This includes hands-on personal training, success-driven coaching and even guidance on the best locations to put vending machines. Gary Hawke, business development consultant at Naturals2Go, described it as a “put-in-the-key-and-drive kind of model.” Owners never have to wonder how to reach their next step.
Fuery also paralleled the purpose-driven side of business opportunity with the military’s medal system.
“Medals are our cornerstone. They show that we started and finished something. Now, this Naturals2Go logo is my medal. I wear it with honor because I once again work toward a greater mission,” he said.
Currently, Fuery is working on a Vets in Vending initiative called Vivre, French for “life.” All proceeds from the participating vending machines will go toward veteran families. “It’s not only a way to show support to veterans but also to recognize that there is life after the military. And the rest of your life can be the best of your life,” he said.
