After refining its system Wisdom Senior Care welcomed its first franchisees, Phillip Tan and Winnie Tong, in 2017. Their North Carolina outpost has tested the in-home senior care’s proven model, and the results have been remarkable.

“We were an emerging brand and had our corporate-owned unit as evidence of the Wisdom Senior Care system,” said Carolyn Thurston, the company’s CEO and founder. “They had faith in our brand and we had faith in them. And this year, they’re on track to surpass the million-dollar mark.”

Detailing how both Tan and Tong “exemplified the Wisdom Senior Care franchise system,” Thurston explained that she chose the husband-and-wife duo to launch her brand’s first franchise because they both aligned with Wisdom’s business culture.

“Our first core value is faith, and we look for that in our franchisees,” Thurston said. “Philip and Winnie had immense faith to take those first steps with us, and now they’re steadily moving forward.”

With eight franchises throughout the country and a goal of opening 10 more in 2022, the brand is well known for its compassionate caregivers and franchisee support and training.

“We became involved with Wisdom because my father- in-law needed care,” noted Tan. “We had used some other companies, but the service was not consistent. We knew Carolyn for many years through other business endeavors, and she offered to come in and make an assessment.”

Tan was so impressed with the level of care that he decided to join the company as its first franchisee. “Since we were already providing care for my father-in-law, we knew what clients wanted and needed firsthand,” Tan said. “We loved the company, and they held our hand every step of the way. Upon launching, our franchise was immediately profitable, and we simply loved the work. We knew we had made the right decision.”

Tan said the company has taught him and his wife many valuable lessons. Their status as a million-dollar branch is simply icing on the cake.

“We will be surpassing the million-dollar mark this year, and we are very excited about that,” Tan concluded. “We didn’t realize this business could grow so big, and we’re still just scratching
the surface.”
