Wize Computing Academy® is more than just an educational franchise. The brand has become a staple in over 100 schools and community centers in the U.S. and Canada, with its innovative project-based curriculum catching the attention of parents, students, educators and nonprofit organizations.
Wize Computing Academy provides educational enrichment opportunities that foster imagination, creation and collaboration. In age- and skill-appropriate courses that focus on coding, robotics and design, students acquire 21st-century skills to address real-world problems. Visionaries Vishal and Venus Bhasin, co-founders of Wize Computing Academy, have developed a lucrative business model that prioritizes youth education.
Vishal highlighted diverse revenue streams, which include both in-person and online classes offered year-round, resulting in recurring revenue. “While our after-school and enrichment classes in schools and preschools contribute significantly to our franchise system’s revenue, we also offer camps during school breaks that account for a considerable portion. With multiple opportunities for revenue, we ensure a stable and robust financial outlook for our business,” Vishal said.
Furthermore, the brand has partnerships with nonprofits to benefit the greater community. “We work with nonprofit organizations, like the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, and we do their STEM badges. We also work with universities and public libraries because they have funding from grants, but they do not have a STEAM program. We become the vendor that provides the program,” Vishal explained.
Another class that has garnered a lot of excitement and critical acclaim is the brand’s competition preparation program. Led by award-winning coaches, students are prepared for international STEM competitions, including the FIRST LEGO® League. Students in high schools and universities often serve as mentors for the competition teams, many of which qualify for regionals and higher levels. Wize Computing Academy also hosts internal robotics and coding competitions, including hackathons, which put students’ skills to the test.
While the Bhasins have developed a robust model that allows for diverse and flexible growth opportunities, nothing makes them happier than seeing the difference they’ve made in their communities.
“For years, while we worked in the tech industry, we had the itch to be entrepreneurs, do our own thing and make a difference. We started small, and now here we are,” Vishal said.
