When WaterStation Technology launched in the greater Seattle area in 2012, the company’s founder, Ryan Wear, identified water as the second fastest-growing category in grocery stores nationwide. He recognized that consumers were increasingly wary of tap water and were turning to plastic bottled water. Wear sought to provide a healthier, more environmentally friendly and less expensive alternative.
“Fresh drinking water is essential for life,” said Dick Humphrey, vice president of business development for WaterStation Technology’s broker networks. Yet, 25% of Americans do not drink from the tap. Citing a recent J.D. Power survey, he said: “People are dissatisfied with the taste and quality of their water so they turn to plastic, but 93% of those bottles have microplastics in them which are bad for your health and the environment. It is critically important to have good, filtered water to drink. WaterStation Technology offers a great solution to all of those problems.”
With its bottleless water stations that are planet-friendly and human-healthy, WaterStation Technology targets a demographic of consumers who are more environmentally and health-conscious. Company officials say this portion of the wellness sector is thriving.
The company provides investors a package of units dispersed in secured partner locations. Within these units, water is percolated through a series of natural minerals to create a virtual spring water with electrolytes and an alkaline pH, which has greater health benefits than typical drinking water with lower pH.
“WaterStation Technology’s reinvention of beverage service has resulted in a product that is more affordable than most bottled water and more ecologically responsible,” said Humphrey. “Plus, with the announcement of our new, exclusive Loyalty Reward Membership program, water revenues should increase exponentially.”
