The CEO Model Driving That 1 Painter’s Franchise Growth

Since launching its franchise program in 2021, That 1 Painter has quickly learned that investors are attracted to its CEO model, which requires a minimum investment of five territories. As a result, it has been expanding the brand with business owners who have corporate backgrounds and team-leading experience.

“Many of our current candidates choose That 1 Painter because they recognize the high margins that home services can provide,” explained Tim Lovett, president of That 1 Painter. “They come from industries that have high capital expenditures – automotive retail, brick and mortar – but want to diversify into a business that relies more on subcontractors, which decreases the capital expense.”

That 1 Painter had several new franchisees come aboard through the multi-unit CEO model in the first quarter of 2024, with many approaching the 90-days-open milestone.

“These new franchisees are seeing big success, hitting sales numbers well beyond what they expected,” said Lovett.

ResiBrands, the development group that manages That 1 Painter and several other home-improvement brands, can offer these brands to owners and double down on the home services sector.

“While we have multiple brands at ResiBrands, we have one management structure. The CEO model allows the owner to concentrate on hiring regional directors who provide guidance to the CEO on what’s needed in the business,” explained Lovett. “That 1 Painter trains the regional director for three days at our corporate offices and then spends a week with them in the field. We teach them all aspects of a day in the life of running a large painting business.”

Lovett also wanted to emphasize the importance which That 1 Painter places on the launch of the business.

“We have a full onboarding team that is there to handhold owners in securing the right vendors, recommending and executing a digital marketing strategy within the budget set by the CEO. They ensure the ResiConnect in-house call center is staffed to qualify every lead that comes in through the marketing campaign and schedule them for service,” said Lovett.
