Robin and Chris Hoy, a PuroClean wife-and-husband team, have been successful franchise owners in their community for the past 10 years. Back in 2010, the Hoys made a decision that it was the right time to transition from their construction business and look into new opportunities to continue to help people during their times of need. While the duo searched for their next option, they stumbled upon a unique PuroClean franchise resale opportunity in their hometown.
The Hoys were impressed with PuroClean’s recession-resistant franchise business model and agreed that the restoration and remediation industry would be a good fit for their skill set. After meeting the PuroClean executive leadership team at the corporate headquarters, the Hoys completed the process to become the paramedics of property damage and opened their office in Cranford, New Jersey, later that year.
To help set them up for success, the previous PuroClean franchise owners spent weeks with the Hoys, transitioning them into their new roles as well as making introductions to businesses in their community. The Hoys also attended PuroClean’s extensive three-week training program in Tamarac, Florida. After completing their second week of training, the Hoys returned for the weekend to spend time with their children. They received an urgent call from a customer who experienced damage to their home during a huge rainstorm.
The Hoys were excited to come to the aid of their first customer. Upon arrival at the home, they saw the entire house was tarped because of extensive damage and knew exactly who to call to support them – the PuroClean training team. The team walked them through every step of the entire remediation process from start to finish.
PuroClean’s franchise network is committed to providing relentless customer service and world-class support, which the Hoys have heeded since day one. While restoring their first clients home, the distraught homeowner expressed how she wished she could have a cup of tea. Without hesitation, the Hoys and their team took the time to clean the debris from her stove, warm up water, and sit down to share a cup of tea with the homeowner. This small act of kindness was a touching moment for the homeowner, the Hoys, and the PuroClean team, as they all got to know one another over a cup of tea.
According to Robin, life is all about the relationships you form. Even though a decade has passed since the Hoys received that urgent call, they still take the time to go above and beyond with clients, which makes the Hoys leaders in their community, encourages referrals to their business, and results in return customers. Robin says it’s wonderful it feels to be greeted at the door with hugs from past clients who they helped get back on their feet. From years of experience with PuroClean, Robin knows that the business comes with great rewards daily. She and her husband have made a difference by restoring properties while also restoring lives.
The Hoys also attribute their franchise’s success to their careful hiring process. Their staff, which has grown to 13 members, including their two sons and the family dog, Malcolm, upholds the Hoys’ values and work ethic. In particular, Robin’s responsibilities include making personal connections and building relationships as well as marketing and bookkeeping for the franchise. She also enjoys speaking at local events to educate the community about various disaster prevention topics.
Chris holds many restoration industry certifications and oversees operations, while bringing his expertise to every response effort. He also enjoys building relationships while sharing his knowledge about mold issues, property mitigation and restoration.
Malcolm, with his photo and job description on the Hoys’ PuroClean website, is head of security and is a personal trainer. He enjoys protecting properties from squirrel and chipmunk damage, while ensuring that the PuroClean staff takes lunch breaks and long walks.
As a PuroClean franchise owner, you will be trained and certified in how to provide restoration and remediation services to both residential and commercial properties. You will make a difference in the lives of families and business owners by helping them overcome damages from mold, water, fire, and smoke.
