OXXO Cleaners that Care is anything but your traditional dry cleaners or laundry service. It’s redefining the dry cleaning and laundry industry with an innovative franchise model that emphasizes sustainability and customer satisfaction.
In 2001, Founder Salomon Mishaan noticed common inconveniences of the dry cleaning and laundry services in the U.S. and used that information to create a business. His model adapted an international concept of dry cleaning that remedied those issues.
As a forward thinker and disrupter in the industry, Mishaan wanted his company to be technology-first and to reimagine the process of picking up and dropping off dry cleaning items. He was able to achieve this by introducing an ATM style, self-service door concept that was available to customers 24/7.
Mishaan also saw a need for a high-quality, hand-touched approach to service that was mindful of the garment’s lifespan and the impact on the environment. In addition to its convenience, OXXO Cleaners that Care is known for only using GreenEarth solvents and its hand-ironed finish on garments.
Since 2003, OXXO Cleaners that Care has grown to 49 operating franchises. It has even expanded globally with thriving locations in Indonesia. With a newly appointed team at the helm of franchise development, OXXO is aiming to add many more locations, and it’s especially focused on locations in Southeast Florida and Texas.
For Vice President of Franchise Sales and Development Bob McHugh, the franchisees’ passion for the business is what plays a huge role in their success.
“When someone brings in a suit for an upcoming job interview or a wedding gown that needs alterations, these moments mark significant milestones in people’s lives. It’s crucial for us to excel in handling these situations,” explained McHugh.
That perspective of handling customers’ garments with care is the principle on which Mishaan founded the company over 20 years ago, and it’s what remains at the heart of the company today.
