Michael Kraner, CEO of My Backyard Sports, developed his franchise because of his passion for athletics and love of outdoor games. A lifelong participant and fan, Kraner believes many of the greatest life lessons, including social skills and team participation, are learned “on the court and between the lines.”

Most courts where Kraner has played were in Brooklyn, New York, his hometown, and Bergen County, New Jersey, where he resides with his family. He started playing sports in Pee Wee and Little League, then played competitive high school athletics. As he got older, he nurtured his passion through coaching, and he remains involved in sports with his family and his community.

As  parent, Kraner realized his children were growing up differently than the way he did. They were spending more time on technology and less time outdoors. He wanted to make sure his kids got outside and developed positive, healthy habits through sports.

Kraner developed My Backyard Sports to bring sports back into every backyard and community. The company does everything from selling and installing basketball hoops to designing and building entire courts and other surfaces. He says many people think a professionally designed, high-quality stadium experience unique to their own property is out of their price range. But he breaks that myth and offers a sports dreamscape that is affordable.

“We believe that it is possible to spread the benefits of playing sports daily without having a large budget,” Kraner says.

My Backyard Sports offers franchisees a low initial investment, as well as a variety of revenue streams that come with the initial startup. A diverse portfolio of clients can help new investors in getting started, walking them through every step of the way.

“We work as a team to build your business,” Kraner says, “and we make sure you score the winning goal.”
