On 9/11 as part of our promise to “Never Forget,” the U.S. celebrates a National Day of Service in remembrance of those killed and injured, and in recognition and honor of those who stepped forward to serve our nation. Franchising gives back throughout the year, but this is a special day to reflect and recommit to service.
At the 2022 IFA Convention, IFA first partnered with Blue Star Families (BSF) on an honor wall and wrote notes to service members. And the partnership continues. For the first time ever, the International Franchise Association and International Franchise Association Foundation are leading a campaign in support of their Welcome Week initiative. Blue Star Families welcomes home military and Veteran families and provides them with a sense of belonging. Many of these families have moved multiple times, and this provides a welcome sense of support.
Through the IFA Foundation, the VetFran program and Franchising Gives Back, we’re bringing together the franchise community to provide funds, in-kind contributions, and volunteer opportunities in support of BSF. More than 600,000 military families and transitioning Veterans will move this summer. This is an ideal opportunity to welcome them to your community. As local business owners, you are uniquely positioned to help welcome our service members and their families. We hope you can get involved.
And, if you’re attending the IFA Leadership Summit and Franchise Action Network Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., we hope you can join us for the Franchising Gives Back Welcome Reception on Sept. 19. There, you’ll have the chance to meet BSF leaders and we hope you can bring gift certificates that can be provided in welcome kits to military families.
Thank you to Marriott, Signarama, SportClips, PuroClean, Darter Specialties, and Caring Senior Service for their early commitments to this important community effort. Together, we will make a difference, and commit supporting those who have served our nation.
