More than two decades ago, HomeVestors® was formed, giving sellers new and much needed options to sell their problem houses. The independently owned and operated franchises help distressed homeowners get out of situations that often seemed impossible. The iconic national branding, We Buy Ugly Houses®, delivers the message seen in advertising campaigns by HomeVestors and resonates with everyone the brand has assisted. HomeVestors has forever changed the lives of sellers.

The brand’s eye catching advertising is exactly what motivated Jeff Hotz to become a HomeVestors business owner. “I worked in Washington, D.C., at one point, and I remember seeing the billboards around the area. You know the ‘We Buy Ugly Houses’ billboards that are all over the country. I didn’t know at the time that it was a company you could join, but I was researching businesses and franchises, and their brand immediately popped out. Clearly, the advertising works well on both sides.”

Hotz actively buys and sells houses and owns rental properties, and while he prioritizes his role as a franchisee, he is a development agent in Ohio as well. “Along the way in my HomeVestors journey, I showed the ability to create a successful business under the HomeVestors umbrella. I am currently the development agent for all of Ohio, and what I do in that role is I coach and support incoming franchisees to help them move their businesses along, just like I did in my own business. Almost every market has a local development agent who mentors the HomeVestors franchisees to help them achieve their individual business goals. Our proprietary advertising methods help to remove any competition between franchisees and let us work as a group. We share resources and have an exceptional team environment.”

Hotz reflected on his journey as a franchisee and wants future franchisees to know that there is room for growth within a system that provides a lot of support. “When I joined HomeVestors, I didn’t know how to buy and sell houses. I just did what they told me. Today, I know more and have more experience, but I always go back to the fundamentals they taught me.”
