Jeff Hotz is more than just a top HomeVestors® of America franchisee based out of Columbus, Ohio. He is a living example of what hard work, dedication and loyalty deliver after 14 years of service in the U.S. Navy and Marines. “He definitely is someone who has been able to share his strengths from being in the military,” said Lauren Midgley, franchise growth director.

Hotz, who serves as the development agent (DA) for HomeVestors franchisees in Ohio, is known for going above and beyond in all aspects of the business. Kevin Culkin, another DA, openly vouched for his fellow franchisee. “His attitude, beliefs and work ethic add to his overall success,” Culkin said.

The development agents serve a vital purpose. “They are responsible for coaching and mentoring new franchisees that come into the HomeVestors system, as well as offering ongoing support for existing franchisees,” Midgley explained. As one of HomeVestors’ differentiators, this role is provided to franchisees in addition to the corporate training and support.

Since opening his franchise in 2013, Hotz has continually demonstrated his leadership, management, and relationship-building skills, all of which have led him to success in his franchise. There are endless advantages to having franchisees who are veterans, and HomeVestors’ concept embraces the skills they have, including teamwork and camaraderie.

“We are very different from other franchises because when a new franchisee comes on board, they do not compete with the existing franchisees. This concept benefits them because they all work closely together. That’s very rare to see in the franchise community,” Culkin said about the relationships between nearly 1,200 HomeVestors franchisees in 170 markets nationwide.

“We have so many successful franchisees that come from all walks of life. We have those from corporate life looking for an independently owned and operated business opportunity to experienced full-time investors because they know HomeVestors enables them to buy more houses than they can on their own,” Culkin said.
