HomeVestors® franchise owners Paul and Tanice Myers jumped into real estate in 2002, purchasing their first property in need of repairs while their peers indulged in luxury items.
“A lot of our friends were out buying boats and stuff. We bought a house, lived in it and bought another house with equity from it,” Paul explained about their beginnings.
Following the birth of their daughter in 2004, they took a five-year hiatus from the housing market. They resumed buying bank-owned homes in 2009, and by 2013, Paul had stepped away from his position at an engineering firm to focus on rehabilitating homes full time.
By 2016 to 2017, the housing market shifted, and it became nearly impossible to find bank-owned properties. Because of this, the couple pursued a HomeVestors franchise and were awarded one in 2018.
“Auctions dried up, and short sales went away. We needed another source of leads, and that’s when I found HomeVestors,” said Paul.
HomeVestors, America’s No. 1 home buying franchise, focuses on making the selling process seamless and straightforward for customers. Since 1996, its national network of over 1,000 franchises has purchased over 140,000 houses. This includes properties from single-family units and condominiums to duplexes, multi-family homes and commercial properties. When it comes to customer service, HomeVestors holds itself to being a solution for homeowners facing tough real estate problems.
It wasn’t long before Tanice, who’d worked in corporate technology sales for 23 years, could leave her role and join Paul full time in 2019. She was ecstatic to announce her departure and give HomeVestors her undivided attention.
“I had this epiphany somewhere along the way where I’m watching my friends go from tech company to tech company. I called it ‘the merry-go-round,’” Tanice explained.
Now going six years strong, the Myers are having more fun than ever. They relocated from Seattle to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and they now operate a franchise in North Idaho and Montana while also serving as development agents. The development agent role centers on mentoring and coaching new franchisees, a responsibility the couple enjoys immensely.
“HomeVestors has done a fantastic job of making sure that their franchise owners are fully supported, not only by corporate but also locally as well, and that’s where we step in,” said Tanice. “We help onboard and train new franchisees as they come into the territory.”
Having dubbed themselves the Road Warrior Investors, the Myers have recently begun traveling the country and engaging with local communities. They actively seek real estate investing meetups where they chat with other franchise owners and liaise with real estate brokers. Their goal is not just to buy and sell houses but to foster community among HomeVestors franchisees.
They started a YouTube channel
that chronicles their adventures, and they’re working on a LinkedIn series that illuminates investors as serving an important need in the real estate ecosystem.
As they travel, connect with investors and transform homes, Tanice and Paul reflect on what it means to be part of HomeVestors, receive unwavering support and make a positive impact.
“I’ve got a secondary family that I can trust,” Tanice concluded.
