When Julie and Scott Jenney found themselves as empty nesters after raising three children, they began to think about what they wanted to do next. The two had become used to a flexible schedule, working for themselves from home, so they began to look into franchise ownership to maintain that lifestyle. After researching several options, the couple signed on with Fitness Machine Technicians in 2018, taking on three territories in southeastern Michigan.
Fitness Machine Technicians services and repairs exercise equipment, with a mix of both residential and commercial accounts. Julie handles the customer calls and paperwork. Because it’s important to get back to customers as quickly as possible, Scott starts working on estimates right away. He makes the initial customer contact and then schedules a technician to perform a machine diagnostic to determine if the repair can be done at that time and on-site. If a followup is required, Scott will put together an estimate based on the technician’s input, and order required parts.
Scott also works with the technicians on training, which can take place at corporate or in-house and includes shadowing a lead technician. Scott is responsible for all franchise marketing and advertising for the business, and he is looking forward to more networking opportunities as the state reopens. Here is a typical day in the life of these Fitness Machine Technician franchisees.
