This company may new to franchising, but don’t let that fool you. Headed by not one, but three veteran entrepreneurs, Surveillance Secure offers more than 75 years of collective business experience to their franchise owners.

After spending years as the owner of a successful independent security business, Kim Hartman partnered with Will Biggerman and Rob Gazzola to form Surveillance Secure, a powerhouse provider of commercial security system design, installation and networking services. Based in the D.C.-metropolitan area, the owners found that the demand for their services grew throughout the country, so franchising just seemed to be the natural next step.

Serving large commercial clients is lucrative as it leads to new business. “The client may say, ‘we have distribution offices in five states,’” explained Hartman, the company’s president and CEO.
“We’ve done jobs in 14 states because the demand was growing.”

While traveling cross-country for various jobs worked initially, the owners found the demand for Surveillance Secure’s services was too much to keep up such a pace. “A few years ago, we were looking at ways to do that. Can we open up branches around the country? We were kind of questioning ourselves,” recounted Biggerman, vice president and chief operating officer of the company.

The team didn’t feel opening corporate branches was the way to go, but they had no intention of turning away customers. Gazzola, who serves as chief marketing officer, introduced the idea of franchising as the means to bring the business to the next level. So far, the plan is successful, with one franchise already operational and more in the works. Best of all, Surveillance Secure is stronger than ever, offering franchise owners recurring revenue streams based on cloud-based services. Franchising is a perfect entrepreneurial solution to continue the brand’s rapid growth, providing the ability to serve new customers rather than turning them away.

“We saw that as a lost opportunity,” Hartman said. “That’s where franchising really makes sense.”
