The Ritz-Carlton of fitness studios, Discover Strength delivers personalized strength training to clients who don’t have time to waste on exercise that doesn’t work. Instead of following fads, Discover Strength employs certified exercise physiologists  who lead 30-minute, one-on-one workouts informed by the latest in exercise science.

The Minnesota-based company is an emerging franchise, but its 17 years of credible fitness business has attracted the attention of entrepreneurs across the U.S.

“We have thousands of clients who love us, and then they realize there is an opportunity to go even further and own a Discover Strength. They want to be a part of this time-tested system, and then when they look at the numbers on the FDD, they know this is what they want to do,” said Vice President of Franchise Development Scott Breimhorst.

While the confidence of longtime clients is indicative of Discover Strength’s current success, the brand’s recent explosive growth highlights its ongoing potential. There are 36 locations open and in development in 10 states with even more being signed as this goes live. Also, because of Discover Strength’s absentee model, prospective franchisees can look at hot markets anywhere in the U.S., including outside of where they reside, gaining access to protected territories.

“Right now, somebody can most likely pick the primary territories they want to develop, but that availability is going to change dramatically in the next 24 months,” Breimhorst said.

For franchisees ready to take the leap, they can expect to enter a system tethered to four core values: learning, servant leadership, creating your own future, and valuing a science-based approach.

“So many things we’ve figured out over the years now come into play as somebody gets on board,” Breimhorst said, explaining that Discover Strength helps franchisees find professionals with exercise science or other health-related degrees, and the company offers competitive core growth plans, resulting in a stable employee base.

In addition, the brand boasts a fully developed video-based learning management system and operations manual, and franchisees are assigned a franchise business coach who works with them weekly. Discover Strength’s leadership team is involved with franchisee development as well, helping with the grand opening, marketing and more.

“We want our franchisees to build a successful business,” Breimhorst said. “Every decision we make has franchisee profitability in mind.”
