After 32 years of owning his consulting firm, Randy Casey was looking for an opportunity to go into business with his daughter, Kayla Casey, who had been working as a bedside nurse and had experience in the health field. Randy had previous experience franchising with a real estate model in the past and loved the support that came from collaborating with other owners. BrightStar Care® provided the perfect opportunity for Randy and Kayla to use their years of experience and create a business together.
“I know the importance of The Joint Commission accreditation,” Kayla said about the internationally recognized symbol of quality in healthcare. “I know that the quality that you have to uphold to maintain that accreditation is a much higher quality of care, and once we heard that BrightStar Care had won the Enterprise Champion for Quality Award every year since its inception, I knew that it was the right choice for us.”
In April 2019, the duo opened their franchise in Friendswood, Texas, which also serves the surrounding areas of Bellaire and Bunker Hill. When they were getting their business off the ground, Randy saw how BrightStar Care’s ongoing coaching system and network were a significant benefit that set them up for success and continues to offer support for their business.
“One of the things that really helped us is the fact that we had the ability to call on other owners and benefit from their experiences,” explained Randy. In this close-knit network of 380-plus franchises, the Caseys are able to tap into multiple revenue streams, including companion care, personal care, home health care, national accounts and medical staffing.
The father-and-daughter team is currently focused on continuing to provide a higher standard of home care services and is continuing to learn from each other every day.
“Working with my dad has taught me a lot of things that’ll actually stick with me for the rest of my life,” said Kayla. “He’s always teaching me to lead with kindness and to lead with integrity. He shows me the importance of hard work every single day by showing up and always being here.”
