Ken Osness, vice president of franchise development for BELFOR Franchise Group, describes Blue Kangaroo Packoutz as the peanut butter cup of the restoration industry. As a leading comprehensive contents cleaning and restoration services company in the U.S., Blue Kangaroo Packoutz provides unmatched service to homeowners, property owners and businesses impacted by disasters.

“This is not a new business. It’s just been done historically by two groups of people,” explained Osness. Those groups include moving companies who lack experience cleaning items (and billing insurance companies) and specialized restoration contractors who excel at getting everything shiny and new but don’t have relocation resources.

“So one of those groups was chocolate, the other was peanut butter, and all we did was create the peanut butter cup,” said Osness. In marrying the two, BELFOR designed a national brand that has witnessed monumental success since launching in January 2021.

“We’re growing like crazy. We’ve gone from 20 locations seven months ago to about 90 locations today,” he said.

It’s a piece of the restoration industry that’s been underserviced for years. Unlike companies that deal with the structure of a building post-disaster, Blue Kangaroo Packoutz salvages the contents inside, and it’s a service to insurance companies that would otherwise have to pay significantly more to replace items.

“We get everything out of the home, inventory it, pack it up, clean it up and store it before the home or business is put back together. We get paid for every single aspect,” Osness explained.

That means it’s also a high-dollar proposition driving the number of people buying into the business. Prospects are talking to existing franchisees, like Kevin Krull out of Michigan, who did over a million dollars in revenue in his first year.

“We’re on the front end of this emerging entity,” Osness confirmed. “Because of our relationships with insurance companies and their knowledge of us across the country, we’re able to get this thing fired up much faster than others might.”

Plus, franchisees can leverage relationships with BELFOR’s 12 other home services brands – representing nearly 5,000 territories in 55 countries and including big names, like 1-800 WATER DAMAGE – to hit the ground running.

Like the peanut butter cup, Blue Kangaroo Packoutz appears poised to bring sweet rewards to owners nationwide.
