After disaster strikes, Blue Kangaroo™ Packoutz swoops in as a trusted provider of full-scale contents cleaning and restoration. Backed by BELFOR Franchise Group, the company operates in a national framework that supports franchisees with high-level training.

“The goal of training is to prepare a new franchisee to open their doors and take on work the minute they graduate from our academy,” explained David Gavilanes, training development leader and regional business coach. “With that in mind, we teach the claims process on day one. From there, it’s hands-on training with the software they will use on jobs.”

Training begins during a franchisee’s “jumpstart process,” which involves completing prerequisite courses from Blue Kangaroo Packoutz’s exclusive online learning library system. New owners learn industry standards for fire and smoke remediation as well as terminology around water mitigation.

The next phase takes place in Mount Clemens, Michigan, at a Blue Kangaroo Packoutz regional location and dedicated training facility.

“When they arrive, they are greeted by two of our three business coaches and trainers. Halfway through, the training class moves to corporate headquarters’ training center in Ann Arbor, where we simulate a pack-out at our industry-certified flood house,” said Gavilanes. “The goal is to piece together all of the classroom training with hands-on experience that allows for mistakes without the consequences that come with learning on the job.”

Because industry certification standards for contents restoration do not exist, Blue Kangaroo Packoutz structures training on real-world practices and scenarios.

“What we teach is not theory. We teach a process that we expect will serve our franchisees well,” said Gavilanes.

Throughout the lifetime of a business, franchise owners have unlimited access to regional business coaches (RBCs). These coaches are considered the bridge between the franchisees and the home office, and all RBCs have relevant experience in contents restoration.

“The coaches are always a phone call away, but we have a marketing and estimate review team and access to industry experts,” Gavilanes said.

Blue Kangaroo Packoutz understands that support does not end at training and that careful guidance from the company allows owners to create meaningful professional paths.

“Having a career where you are physically and emotionally helping others can be an extremely rewarding entrepreneurial endeavor,” said Gavilanes.
