Putting the Environment First Pays Off

Tyler Sanchez is no stranger to the solar industry. He started working in the industry a decade ago, and when he heard his former coworkers, Keith Murphy, founder of Astrawatt Solar, and Tyler Tucker, co-owner and chief development officer of Astrawatt Solar, started a solar business, he decided to join their company.

After working with them for a few years, Sanchez opened his Astrawatt Solar location with his father, Raul, in Oklahoma City last year. While his background has helped him gain success as a franchisee, Sanchez knows that the need for solar is continually growing and those who want it will get it.

“With my previous experience, I knew that, with Astrawatt’s products and the people we have in place, we are doing something that is helping. If it doesn’t make sense for a customer, I won’t try to sell them because I have a firm belief that if I sell our products with integrity, it will close,” explained Sanchez.

For many customers, this is a no-brainer. The benefits of using solar are clear; customers can see the cost savings they will receive and the reduction in emissions solar has over time. Sanchez’s desire to help others and have a positive effect on the environment have acted as a guiding light in his business ownership journey.

“Asking, ‘why do I want to go into solar,’ is important because if you are just money-driven, you will not grow in what it is that you do. If your goal is to help people, make a positive impact on the environment and educate people that, without solar, they will have an electric bill for the rest of their lives, then you will succeed. The biggest enjoyment that I have is being able to let go of portions of the company, have faith in the people around me and trust the process,” he said.

Astrawatt Solar provides a carefully structured business model committed to the success of each owner. From its exclusive vendor relations to the one-on-one training it offers, Astrawatt has a straightforward model that allows owners to hit the ground running.

Here’s a glimpse into a day in the life of an Astrawatt Solar franchisee:

6 a.m.  Sanchez sets the tone for each day by starting with prayer and meditation. Then, he showers, has breakfast with his family and gets ready for work.

8 a.m. Sanchez calls his project coordinator to review current projects.

9 a.m. After reviewing recent jobs, Sanchez submits the installation photos, and completes any follow-up work. Depending on the day, meetings are scheduled, including those with his sales team to discuss leads and current projects, or additional paperwork that requires completion.

1 p.m. Sanchez takes a lunch hour and then spends the afternoon making sales pitches to prospective clients.

7 p.m. At the end of a full day, Sanchez comes home to eat dinner, spend time with his family, and attend his children’s sports activities.
