Renew Medic™ is a specialty disaster mitigation and restoration company focused on the repair, rebuilding and reinstallation of cabinets. The brand grew out of TCB Franchising’s Furniture Medic®, which has more than three decades of experience in wood restoration.

Over the years, some of Furniture Medic’s franchisees honed their skills in cabinetry, with services including resurfacing, cleaning, painting and more. According to Mitchell Dodd, Renew Medic brand leader, it became clear that this specialization could stand on its own, saving thousands of dollars for insurance, mitigation and claims companies, as well as for homeowners and commercial property owners.

Historically, damaged cabinetry has been considered a total loss by the insurance industry. According to Dodd, cabinets are repairable 95% of the time yet are repaired only 6% of the time. On average, cabinet repairs cost 40% to 60% less than total replacement.

Renew Medic is the country’s premier cabinet restoration company, providing franchisees with the opportunity to build a scalable business with multiple revenue streams in an industry with limited competition. Additionally, the global restoration industry is valued at $18.85 billion, according to Gitnux.

Renew Medic is looking to capitalize on an underserved, lucrative market segment and is the first of its kind. The brand has space on the map for large, exclusive territories.

“But it’s going to go quickly,” said Dodd.

As of September 2024, Renew Medic had four locations operating, 13 licenses sold and a goal to add another 30 by the end of October. Franchisees can begin with one owner/general manager, six or seven employees and a 6,500-plus-square-foot warehouse for work and storage. Some Furniture Medic franchisees also own Renew Medic locations and can serve as a resource for Renew Medic owners.

In addition to franchisee networking and marketing at the local level, Renew Medic has national accounts with insurance carriers, which further boosts revenue.

According to Dodd, the ultimate goal for Renew Medic franchisees is not just to own a business or buy a job but to build their future through a proven, scalable business model that can be sold or handed down to family members.

The brand attracts franchisees from the home services, contractor and construction worlds, and students from trade schools who can be trained in cabinetry.

Renew Medic provides superior training on both the business and technical sides of the franchise. Business training includes back-office operations, such as accounting, finance and working with claims adjusters and insurers.

Technical training takes place at the brand’s Memphis, Tennessee, headquarters and includes cabinet removal, building, finishing techniques and reinstallation. On-demand libraries and videos provide additional training and support, and every new franchisee has a main point of contact with the brand’s business development team.

Renew Medic is a pioneer in the cabinet restoration industry. While competition will follow, Dodd emphasized: “We believe we are the industry leaders in what we do.”
