Success in franchising starts when a founder creates a brand worth following. They establish a system that has a solid recognizable trademark, offering a value proposition for franchisees to invest in their own business. By Erika Ortega

VETERAN APPRECIATION

LIME Painting® is a values-based franchise that provides high-end painting, surface restoration and home services to residential and commercial clients. In a crowded market, LIME Painting uniquely caters to luxury consumers with a focus on enhancing the value of residential and business real estate investments.

Franchise owners are drawn to the brand’s vibrant culture, comprehensive business model, affordability and potential for substantial returns. For veterans, the benefits go a step further, with $5,000 off the initial sign-on fee. Kevin Schramm, president of LIME Painting of Boise, Idaho, is a proud veteran who has been in the franchise industry since 2008. In addition to owning and running the first LIME Painting location outside of Colorado, he is a key member of the franchise’s Federal Advisory Committee (FAC) board.

“Being a part of the FAC has been challenging and rewarding all at the same time,” explained Schramm. “I find great joy in sharing my story and successes.”

In 2023, Schramm was honored with a Franchisee of the Year Award by the International Franchise Association, making him a great role model for new franchise owners.

“After I got out of the military, I really didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I have always had the desire to own my own business,” said Schramm. “It was comforting getting into the franchise space knowing I didn’t have to recreate the wheel.”

Schramm explained that part of the reason he chose LIME Painting was because of the company’s values and its branding.

“It was also an emerging brand at the time, so I felt like there was an opportunity to collaborate and enhance the model as we grew,” he added.

LIME Painting’s dedication to exceptional services and customer experience also proved to be the right fit. Schramm feels that franchising and military platforms are similar in the way that plans, models and structures are provided, facilitating operational execution and goal attainment.

“The culture of family has been amazing at LIME,” said Schramm. “I always let people know when they come into LIME: It is not a job, career or just another business. It is a family!”
