In 2022, Hawaii Fluid Art began franchising and opening locations across the country. With its team of franchisees, Hawaii Fluid Art has been able to share its unique painting experiences with people of all ages and abilities.
In 2023 alone, the company opened over 20 new franchise locations, and it’s projected to open over 50 more in 2024.
“We did a lot of growing as a brand in 2023,” said Hawaii Fluid Art Founder Maya Ratcliff. “As far as infrastructure, training, opening stores and hiring leadership staff, we really expanded quite a bit, and it’s been really good; 2024 holds a lot of great things in store.”
This year, Hawaii Fluid Art is creating its own exclusive brands of private paint and resin. According to Ratcliff, the company is hoping to roll these new products out to major retailers in 2025.
The reason that the company’s owners were able to have such incredible growth last year is largely because of its solid franchisee support.
“We’re not just a brand and a logo,” said Ratcliff. “We’re a true full-service brand, and that really makes a difference to a lot of people.”
Thanks to Hawaii Fluid Art’s dedication to real estate acquisition, construction management, marketing, training and franchise success teams, new franchisees are guided through the pre-opening work and set up for success.
Once a location is up and running, there are various resources that offer support for the new franchisee, such as chats with fellow owners and monthly check-ins with a franchise success manager. The brand recently has introduced a customized training portal named HFA University, which provides in-depth training on various art techniques and customer-service topics.
Ratcliff hopes to keep the momentum going and has a goal of opening 350 franchises across the U.S. and Canada by 2026.
“It makes me really happy for the owners to be able to give joy to people in their local communities,” said Ratcliff. “And, as you know, it makes me excited for the future to see what’s happening so soon after we launched.”
