Dog Training, Boarding and Day Care Services Fetch Big Profits

All Dogs Unleashed is a dog training, boarding and day care franchise unlike any other in the increasingly profitable pet care industry. According to Co-founder Brian Claeys, dog boarding and day care businesses are highly competitive but don’t also offer dog training.

Claeys and Co-founder Travis Lux had been raised around dogs, and they recognized the potential for a brand devoted to best-in-class training supplemented by revenue from boarding and day care.

The two traveled and learned from the best trainers and developed a proven business model based on new dog-training philosophy. They launched their brand in 2007 and franchised in 2021.

“By adding the training in there, it’s just a complete game changer,” said Claeys. “No one’s doing it.”

They began this year with 20 locations and are growing nationwide. According to Claeys, the typical All Dogs Unleashed franchise pulls in three times the revenue of a standard boarding kennel or day care.

“The biggest ticket item for us is the training,” he said.

The brand uses food, verbal praise and body language to teach dogs to obey both on and off the leash. While dog training alone is one model of ownership, most franchisees purchase or convert real estate so they can also profit from boarding and day care.

The brand’s headquarters in Carrollton, Texas, is its largest facility with a staff of 38, including trainers. Many of the brand’s franchisees are family members and friends who witnessed Claeys and Lux’s joy of working with dogs and saw profits increase year after year, even during the 2020 pandemic.

Customers who train with All Dogs Unleashed often return for boarding and day care and share their experiences with others who then become clients.

“We knew that our customers were going to be our greatest sales reps,” Claeys said.

New owners receive two to three weeks of training at brand headquarters and another two weeks on-site. Support includes lifetime mentoring, stellar online marketing, assistance with site location and more.

The brand seeks franchisees who are willing to work hard and who love pets and people.

“As far as a career path, it’s awesome, it’s amazing,” Claeys said.
