An expert in the growth and operation of businesses, Steve Beagelman began helping others achieve their dreams of business ownership over 30 years ago. After offering guidance to a colleague’s client, he quickly received more requests and realized he had created something truly special. In 2009, SMB Franchise Advisors was born.
Since being founded, SMB Franchise Advisors has provided best-in-class franchise consulting services to over 400 brands and has been recognized for its impact in the industry. “In the last three years, we were recognized by Entrepreneur magazine and our clients as a Top Franchise Supplier in the consulting and development category. We are proud of this honor and distinction and hope to be able to continue this journey in 2022 for the fourth year in a row,” Beagelman said.
The company’s team also has quite a few accomplishments under its belt. As the chair of the ICFE Board of Governors, James Mowery, chief technology officer of SMB, congratulated hundreds of certified franchise executive (CFE) graduates on stage at the last International Franchise Association (IFA) convention. Also, Dawn Abbamondi, vice president of marketing and brand development, was asked to become a part of the IFA’s Women’s Franchise Committee while still serving as co-chair of the Women’s Franchise Network of Philadelphia. She also was recognized by Entrepreneur magazine as one of the “Top Influential Women in Franchising.” The awards don’t stop there, however.
“I am very proud of the growth and expansion our clients have continued to achieve in the last few years. In 2022 alone, 11 have been named to Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500, eight have been ranked as a Top Emerging Brand and 48 made the FranTastic 500! In addition, I have helped several brands complete private equity transactions, which is highly sought after right now in the franchise industry,” Beagelman said.
It comes as no surprise that, with SMB’s winning team, clients turn to the company for all of their brand development needs. SMB Franchise Advisors focuses on four pillars – franchise creation; marketing, branding and franchise sales training; operations and training; and financial services – to pinpoint clients’ needs and provide them with comprehensive support. In addition to helping clients determine if their brand is franchise-able, the SMB team helps with several other vital business components, such as guiding on FDD terms, writing operations manuals and developing marketing that attracts ideal franchisees.
“We work to educate the client on how to become a franchisor and how to set up their brand for success,” Beagelman explained. “We are very proud to share our expertise, which covers finance, technology, and operations as well as marketing to get leads and closing deals.”
With the goal to help clients expand and grow through the franchise model, SMB prioritizes its relationship with its clients. The company works closely with entrepreneurs to ensure they understand and are comfortable with the multi-faceted nature of franchising. To SMB, clients are an extension of its franchise family of brands.
Beagelman, who said his team is always available to answer questions, shared some advice for those who may feel hesitant about starting a franchise. “Tomorrow will come whether you take the chance now or if you wait. Waiting will only delay your dreams of becoming a franchisor expanding your brand with franchisees.”
