Technology helps everyone stay connected and develop in ways that are evolving as quickly as there are minds and hands to create it. Computer-science education prepares children for a world where technology is omnipresent. Schools are increasingly making efforts to teach computer-science fundamentals, but there are noticeable gaps in the availability and adequacy of those systems.
Abid Abedi, founder and CEO of iCode, recognized the disparity in the education system. In 2015, Abedi launched iCode to elevate computer science education by integrating the STEAM education system with a dynamic curriculum. STEAM is an educational approach that uses science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics to guide students to become critical problem solvers in a multitude of subject areas. Abedi commented: “We not only teach coding, programming and robotics to our students, but we also immerse them in learning important soft skills, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, project-based learning, collaboration, and teamwork, as we focus our journey on empowering future innovators.”
The experts at iCode have taken great measures to research and provide a system that works flawlessly for their students. The iCode curriculum is entirely proprietary and has been designed by the brand’s internal group of developers. The learning methodology immerses students in experiences that teach higher-order thinking skills required in the classroom and beyond. Each facility has four to five classrooms equipped with the latest iMacs, MacBook Airs, iPads, 3-D printers, Raspberry Pis and all course materials.
School partnerships have greatly increased the ability to stay connected with students throughout the school year and summer. Classes are offered to public, private, and charter schools and can be taught as after-school programs, school events, and field trip destinations. As a brand that is focused on putting students first, iCode provides a scholarship program to fill the gap for affordability.
Franchisees are able to diversify their revenue streams with iCode’s extensive program catalog and multi-classroom structure, and each owner can host several classes and courses simultaneously with the brand’s carefully structured business model. iCode offers more than 20 onsite summer camps and holiday camps as well as a menu of virtual camps. It is common for individual iCode locations to host over 300 camp enrollments that run all day, Monday through Friday, each week over the summer.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics, the computer science industry is projected to grow much faster than all other industries over the next several years. iCode is uniquely positioned in this industry for long-term growth, and it has a business model that is structured to maintain a high margin. The leadership team represents over 80 years of combined global franchising experience and brings each franchisee carefully through the process. iCode is looking for franchisees who are interested in computer science and technology and are passionate about making a difference in the lives of youth in their community. You do not need to be a coder to own an iCode, but it would be beneficial to have a background in business operations.
