In her early years, Samantha Ford experienced a bout of depression. That was when she discovered how exercise could improve her emotional well-being in addition to her physical health. By joining various fitness centers and taking two to three classes daily, Ford quickly became a fitness enthusiast and advocate.

Once she added Jabz Boxing to her circuit, she was hooked on the female-created workouts that specifically targeted women’s body issues. By this time, Ford was in the best shape of her life, and she wanted to share what she had learned about the physical and emotional benefits of fitness. In October 2013, she became the first Jabz Boxing franchisee.

But following the opening of her Phoenix studio, Ford went through the hardest years of her life. Over a five-year period, she experienced one tragedy after another: divorce, the death of her father, the illness and eventual death of her teenage son, and the death of her mother, who was her greatest role model.

We were raised by a single mom with five kids. She was a huge model of strength, determination and empowerment, who encouraged her children to be independent, hard-working and go after their dreams.

With support and encouragement from her siblings, the community, and her Jabz Boxing family, Ford was able to get through those difficult times. She regained her strength and continued to run and build her business. By having a place to go, as well as strong goals and a sense of purpose, Ford recalls the days she worked in her studio to be the brightest.

Ford has helped more than 5,000 Jabz Boxing clients. She is passionate about training, interacting, and having fun with clients while watching them progress. She loves creating fitness plans for those who may need modifications or more of a challenge. For Ford and her staff, Jabz Boxing has provided such a strong sense of community, it’s not just a gym, but a second home.
