Taking Control of Your Destiny
Prior to opening his first MADabolic franchise, Corbin Jennings worked in the corporate world in areas of business that included forecasting, planning, merchandising and logistics. He often found himself working 10-to-12 hour days, buried in Excel spreadsheets. He knew there had to be a better way. He was determined to take control of his life and financial future.
As a former soccer player who was committed to fitness training, Jennings enjoyed working out at various gyms. When his girlfriend (now fiancée) introduced him to MADabolic, he realized this fitness center was like no other. In comparison to others where he previously worked out, Jennings says “MADabolic has a flat-out superior training program.” He explains that MADabolic trainers understand proper form and are invested in helping their clients get stronger as they progress through the trainings.
The MADabolic philosophy, “better is better,” as well as the training approach and culture resonated with Jennings. After speaking with one of the co-founders, Brandon Cullen, a former professional hockey player, Jennings was ready to take the leap into the entrepreneurial fitness world. He opened his first MADabolic location in northern Virginia three and a half years ago, and recently opened his second location in Washington, D.C. Jennings has his sights on opening even more locations.
Entrepreneurship isn’t an easy path, Jennings acknowledges. He advises others to talk with franchise owners and to “have a firm grasp on your financials” before deciding to purchase a franchise.
Jennings knows he could have continued his career progression working for others in the corporate world. “But I wanted to be my own boss, with the ability to move at my pace.” Now, he finds his days to be “a lot more stimulating,” working as a business owner in an industry and for a brand that he is passionate about.
