Satellite Teams Founder and CEO Matt Martin has built his career around identifying business challenges and creating solutions. His latest venture was born from a problem he faced firsthand: building a high-performing team while controlling costs.

“Whenever I get an extra five minutes of time, I start a new company,” Martin joked.

Little did he know that his portfolio of companies would eventually lead him to another venture. One of the technology companies he created needed to increase productivity while reducing expenses, prompting Martin to explore new approaches to building his team.

Looking to outsource some of his talent, he worked with a business process outsourcer, but the company didn’t take the time to understand his business, had a revolving door of employees and, ultimately, wasn’t able to meet his needs. He then turned to freelancers, but the temporary nature of freelancing created additional costs. Martin wanted a team full of people who wanted to build a career with his company.

Martin set out to create the solution he was looking for by opening an office in a lower-cost country where employees would be paid well above market rate while remaining core members of the business’s team and culture. This plan was a success, and other business owners in his network took notice.

In 2022, Martin started Satellite Teams, helping other businesses implement the same solution. In February 2026, the company began franchising its model and has already signed nine franchisees. By systemizing the process, franchisees can continue to help more businesses reduce their costs. For now, Satellite Teams is focusing on expanding across the English-speaking world but hopes to expand more broadly in the future.

“Matt often says, ‘Hire the perfect employee on the other side of the world as if they are sitting next to you,’ and getting to save up to 70% of domestic costs in the U.S. can make a huge impact on business owners,” said Chief Growth Officer Tammy Romage. “It’s not only empowering, enriching and changing employees’ lives through the placements but also the owners’ lives – all at the same time.”
