“We have to get the grease out of the drains!” exclaimed FilterShine USA Founder and President Jason Wellman. “It sounds like such a weird war cry, but it’s really what it comes down to.”

Driven by a mission to improve commercial kitchen safety and efficiency, Wellman developed a standardized grease filter exchange system that thoroughly cleans and sanitizes grease filters, helping protect plumbing systems and keep grease out of the wastewater stream.

FilterShine USA started as a local business in 2007 and has grown into a national provider of commercial kitchen filter exchange services. As demand grew, Wellman realized the business could solve the same problem for restaurants nationwide through franchising. Partnering with IA Business Advisors, the company transitioned from an 18-location dealership network into a franchise system, expanding to 15 franchise locations in two years.

“We’re the only professional national brand dedicated exclusively to commercial kitchen filter exchange,” Chief Operating Officer Bruno Hilgart said. “For others, it’s an add-on service. For us, it’s our specialty.”

“Our company is focused on doing it right and exceeding requirements,” Wellman said. “Our standardized system delivers environmentally responsible services that improve safety, reduce costs, support compliance and protect the environment.”

FilterShine USA offers franchisees a streamlined B2B model with recurring revenue and limited competition. No commercial kitchen experience is required because franchisees receive comprehensive training and ongoing operational support.

“Our support staff specializes in marketing, branding, sales, technology and operations,” Wellman said. “We’re also committed to proper grease disposal. Everything is removed from the property and processed through a water treatment facility, transforming one of the largest pollutants entering drains into products that benefit society and the environment.” That support extends to a collaborative network of franchise owners, operators and industry experts.

As F.O.G. (fats, oils and grease) regulations continue to evolve, the FilterShine team uses technology and standardized processes to help clients maintain safe, compliant kitchens. That commitment has helped the company achieve a client retention rate of more than 90%.
