Paul Davis Restoration Installs Smoke Alarms and Saves Lives Across North America with the American Red Cross

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Paul Davis Restoration will be volunteering for “Sound the Alarm,” an American Red Cross emblematic national movement taking place each spring, to install free smoke alarms in neighborhood homes. These events are part of the Home Fire Campaign, founded in 2014 by the Red Cross to respond to the shocking and heart-breaking fact that every day, seven people die in home fires, most often in homes without working smoke alarms.

Paul Davis Restoration, a nationwide network of nearly 350 franchises, headquartered in Jacksonville, FL, pledged $500,000 to the American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program (ADGP) in January of this year. This donation helps ensure the organization is prepared to meet the needs of people affected by disasters big and small across the U.S.

Randall Minor, an Estimator at the Paul Davis of North Florida location, also took part in an event. “Spreading awareness about fire safety with the Red Cross was a very meaningful and rewarding experience for me. As someone who sees fire damage on a regular basis, I can tell you that the devastation caused by a fire can ruin more than just someone’s property,” added Minor.

“Not everyone is fortunate enough to live in a home with properly installed, functional smoke detectors,” said Barry A’Hearn, Emergency Recovery Coordinator of Paul Davis of the Iowa-Corridor. HOUSTON — A nationwide survey of hundreds of teachers and school administrators shows that social media influence, behavioral outbursts, emotional uncertainties, lack of motivation and parental oversight are among the top challenges for students in the classroom today. The Top 5 Concerns from Teachers Include:

Social Media Influence: Teachers and administrators expressed concerns about the impact of social media on students, including issues such as cyberbullying, unrealistic standards, and the constant need for validation. World’s Largest Supplier of Small-Quantity Metals Supports Students in Essential Trades

TORONTO – Metal Supermarkets announced the kick-off of their 3rd annual trade school scholarship program in honor of National Welding Month. Four $2,500 scholarships are to be awarded to eligible trade school students in the United States and Canada for studies in 2024.

The scholarship was established in response to the shortage of skilled trade workers across North America. For example, over 360,000 welding professionals are projected to be needed by 2026, while only 84,000 positions are expected to be filled by next year, according to American Welding Society. The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that skilled trades have millions of unfilled positions. Similarly, a Canadian government report cited that over 256,000 new apprentices are also needed in the coming years to meet the 2026 demand for skilled trades workers in Canada.

A Metal Supermarkets commissioned study also indicates that young people are not aware of potentially lucrative skilled trades careers — over 62% of high school respondents said they lacked knowledge about trade school opportunities. Boosting Career Education for Trade Industries
